What can I expect from my first appointment?
Prior to your first appointment you will receive some paperwork to fill in about your condition and concerns and other relevant information such as your past medical history. On the day of your appointment your Physiotherapist will meet you at your house (or other agreed location) at your appointment time. Generally there will be a lot of talking at the start of your session so that we can gain a thorough history and fully understand your concerns and condition. We will also use that time to develop some goals so that you get the most from your sessions. From there we will complete relevant physical assessments and will explain throughout what we are assessing and why it is relevant to your condition. At the end of the session we will develop a plan of how to address your concerns and achieve your goals. We will also get you started with a home exercise program (one that is completely relevant and achievable for you and not just a generic list of exercises).
I am worried about someone coming to my house. Will you be judging my house or environment?
Most definitely not! We understand your home is your private sanctuary and welcoming someone new into your house could feel overwhelming. At Future First Physiotherapy, we aim to make you as comfortable as possible. We are completely non-judgemental and are even happy to meet at a different suitable location if you prefer. All we ask when entering your house is that it is safe for us to do so, pets are restrained appropriately, and all household members refrain from smoking inside during the appointment time.
